String Quartet – Chrysalis

My composition is based on the idea of metamorphosis. In the beginning I used a fixed motif but it has a structure that changes and sometimes evolves over time, undergoing constant changes and reaching new forms and new ideas. I tried to reflect an inner transformation in my work. Each section carries a transformation within itself and the traces of the previous episode.

Timbre & Extended Techniques:

-I used pizzicato, col legno, tremolo and glissando.

-A balance between traditional bowing and percussive gestures crafts a multidimensional sound.

-Dynamics are used narratively from breath like ppp to ff.

Instead of traditional harmony or melody, it is a composition with an ever changing structural
body. The all parts have their own narratives and changes.
